Four arrested in Telangana after police bust international organ trade racket

Four persons were arrested from Nalgonda district of Telangana after police unearthed an international organ trade racket involving three corporate hospitals in Colombo in Sri Lanka. An unemployed youth from Godavarigudem in Nalgonda district sold out his kidney to a donor for 5 lakh rupees a year ago and turned to an agent to the kingpins of an International Kidney racket for lavish life. Police said, the youth lured 15 others from various states online for kidney donation. All the kidney transplantations were done at the three corporate hospitals in Colombo. Police investigations revealed that Rs 27 to Rs 30 lakh were charged each of the kidney transplantation out of which a meagre amount of Rs 5 lakh were paid to donors. Cases has been registered and investigation is underway.
