Piped gas for over 2.5 lakh households in Hyderabad by 2021

Bhagyanagar Gas Limited (BGL), a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd and HPCL, will connect one lakh new households in Hyderabad to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) within next two years and more than 2.5 lakh by 2021, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said today. "Only 1,140 households have been linked with PNG in Hyderabad. Though there is a primary network...but due to lack of monitoring and lack of strategy it could not penetrate. Now I am pledging my commitment," Pradhan told reporters here. "I have taken review and found the anomalies. I have a new business plan for Bhagyanagar Gas. Within next two years, one lakh new households will be connected through PNG," he said. The minister said all preparatory work has been completed and tenders have been invited for the pipeline-laying process. "Within next two years, this (PNG) connectivity will be increased upto 1 lakh. In the next five years by 2021, more than 2.5 lakh households will be connected by PNG in Hyderabad," said the Minister of State (Independent charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas. He said there will be more CNG connections for transportation sector and added that "we will be putting more CNG facilities in Hyderabad". "Very soon we will be connecting the dedicated gas pipeline from Mallavaram (Andhra Pradesh) to Ramagundam. Our government is committed to revive Ramagundam fertiliser plant and for that we are building the dedicated pipeline. Very soon this pipeline work will start from Ramagundam to Mallavaram which will facilitate the early commencement of Ramagundam fertiliser unit," he said. .
