Javeed Ahmad appointed as new DGP of UP

In Uttar Pradesh, Javeed Ahmad has been appointed as new Director General of state police. A 1984 batch IPS officer, Ahmad was till now DG Railways. He will succeeded Jagmohan Yadav who superannuated yesterday.​ Mr. Ahmad has long experience on various senior and sensitive posts including his stint in CBI. AIR correspondent reports that Javeed Ahmad is eighth DGP since March 2012, when the present Samajwadi Party government led by Akhilesh Yadav came into power.
