Ganesh procession passing off peacefully in Hyderabad
Ganesh Chaturdhi festivities are coming to an end with the immersion of Ganesh idols across Telangana including capital Hyderabad. Under the surveillance of CCTV cameras and huge number of armed police personnel, the procession of Ganesh Idols has begun at Balapur on the out skirts of Hyderabad. About 55 thousand Idols in various sizes and hues will be immersed in 24 waterbodies in and around Hyderabad including the Historic Hussain Sagar.
It is a visual treat to watch thousands of Gensh idols in various sizes, colours, forms and hues proceeding to Hussain Sagar Lake for immersion. Lakhs of devotees throng the surrounding areas to bid adieu to their god and have a glimpse of the beautifully decorated idols. The historic Sobha Yatra began from Balapur on the outskirts of the state Capital this morning.
The procession of Ganesh Idols by various community, business and residential associations will be culminating in the main yatra as and when it crosses their respective areas. The Police and local municipal authorities have made elaborate arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful passage of the Ganesh Immersion Procession.
Over 22 thousand police personnel including those drawn from Chattisgarh and also reserve police battalions have been deployed while about 2 thousand CCTV cameras and Camera Mounted Vehicles are providing constant surveillance. The immersion procession will continue throughout the night.
