Head constable dies as service gun goes off accidentally

A Head Constable, who was posted on escort duty of a MLA in Adilabad district of Telangana, died today after his service weapon went off "accidentally", police said. The victim was identified as B Gangadhar and the incident took place near the house of Chennur MLA and Telangana Government Whip Nallala Odelu in Mandamarri in Adilabad district. "Gangadhar, a head constable in Telangana Armed Reserve, who was on escort duty of Chennur MLA and Government Whip Nallala Odelu, suffered injuries in his stomach after the SLR misfired. He died on way to a hospital," Superintendent of Police (Bellampalli Sub-Division) Ramana Reddy told PTI. Further investigation is on.
