Delhi HC dismisses plea for NIA probe in JNU sedition case

The Delhi High Court today dismissed a petition seeking NIA probe in the JNU sedition case saying the plea was "premature" as the police is already investigating the matter. The plea was filed on Monday by a lawyer Ranjana Agnihotri, who alleged that the Delhi Police was not investigating the case properly and that the matter should be transferred to the NIA. The bench of Justice Manmohan, however, observed that they can not jump into conclusions and added that police, law and order are taken care of by the government and they will do the needful. During the arguments, the petitioner's counsel also contended that the bench should direct the government to appoint a judicial commission to look into the matter. The court rejected petitioner's contention and said that it is confident that Delhi Police will investigate all the aspects of the case.
