Govt to provide wi-fi at 25,000 spots in country by next month

The government has set a target of providing wi-fi facilities at 25,000 spots in the country by March this year. In reply to a question in the Lok Sabha Sabha, Communications and IT Minister Ravishankar Prasad said, the facilities are available at three hundred spots at present. Mr Prasad said the government is exploring to have such more wi-fi spots in near future. Mr Prasad said government is taking steps to address the issue of call drops. The Minister said, government is laying optical fibre network in two lakh 50 thousand gram panchayats of the country to provide broadband facilities.
