Two NRIs who helped al-Qaeda did not visit Hyd recently

Hyderabadi NRI brothers Yahya Farooq Mohammad and Ibrahim Zubair, who were booked by a United States district court for providing financial support to Al Qaeda, have not visited India in any recent years. Stating this here, Intelligence officials said the two were born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and had their primary education there. They were in Hyderabad for education for a few years, but they haven't come to Hyderabad for the last 10 years. “They are from Hyderabad, their family is well-educated and settled in Sharjah. For education, they had come to Hyderabad. Later, they left for the United States and did their higher education there. Farooq then moved to Dubai and started working with an MNC,” said an intelligence official from Telangana. Their father had passed away a few years ago, and mother, seriously ill, was brought to Hyderabad recently and is taken care of by her brother. Officials said the two youths have no terror links in Hyderabad nor were they funding any terror activity here. “After a brief inquiry, we have closed our probe here. The United States authorities are proceeding with the case there.” The two were indicted in the United States District Court of the Northern District of Ohio on one count of “conspiracy to provide and conceal material support and resources to terrorists”. FBI is investigating the case.
