C V Anand appointed special observer for TN, Puducherry polls

The Election Commission of India has appointed Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand as 'Special Observer' in the general election to the Legislative Assemblies of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for a period of five days. "He has been deputed by the ECI to randomly check whether all the sytems and directions given by the ECI for expenditure control by the various parties like Static Surveillance Team, Flying Squad, Video Viewing and Surveillance Teams, GPS enabled vehicles, booth level awareness groups, CPMFs deployment, excise and distilleries activities, Banking and other transactions, paid news etc are being followed or not," a release from Cyberabad Police said today. Last year, C V Anand had been conferred the Election Commission of India's National Special Category Award for the Best Electoral Practices-2014. Anand had been bestowed the National Special Award by ECI for the "commendable" election related measures taken by him in the area of 'Expenditure Monitoring and Tackling Money Power' during the General Elections of 2014. Cyberabad Police Commissionerate had the highest cash seizures in the country in the run up to the election on April 30, 2014 of Rs 21.97 crore and also the single largest cash seizure of Rs 8.33 crore in the country in its drive to control election expenditure.
