Cyberabad police make elaborate security arrangements for IPL
Elaborate arrangements have been made with deployment of about 2,000 police personnel for the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches to be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal here.
"Effective and elaborate 'bandobust' arrangements are made in coordination with different wings, like security wing, traffic, law and order, octopus, armed forces. A total of about 2,000 personnel are being deployed for 'bandobust' apart from around 400 private security personnel for the upcoming IPL matches," Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said.
In and around the stadium, a total of 100 CCTV cameras will be installed to cover the entire area and a command and control room are also established to monitor all the CCTV footages for taking immediate action, he added.
"Four teams in mufti (plain clothes) are being deployed separately for checking the movements of anti-social elements. Police visibility is enhanced to prevent anti-social elements to enable smooth viewing of the matches and to help the spectators in any case of eventuality," Anand said.
According to the Commissioner, SHE Teams in mufti will also be deployed to curb eve-teasing and any offences against women.
Extra 'bandobust' has been arranged in and around the stadium round the clock and Quick Response Teams (QRT) have been arranged separately to meet with the exigency.
The viewers are not allowed to carry bags, banners, cameras, eatables, carriages and water bottles inside the stadium, the police commissioner said.
IPL matches for the ninth edition are slated to be held in the city on April 16, 18, 23, 26, 30 besides on May 6 and 12.
