Centre making all efforts to tackle situation in drought-hit states

The government says all efforts are being made by the Central government to deal with drought situation in some States of the country. Replying to a media query in New Delhi, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is concerned over the situation and has directed to provide all assistance to the affected States. He said financial assistance has been extended and will be given to the States as and when required. Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet today approved India Chile preferential trade agreement (PTA). The agreement is aimed at promoting economic cooperation between the two countries. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar also informed that compensatory afforestation bill will be passed in the next session of Parliament.
