RTO officer is allegedly worth Rs three crore

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau today claimed to have discovered assets of Rs 3 crore belonging to an RTO official based in Medchal in the neighbouring Ranga Reddy district. The ACB, on September 19 last year, had caught red-handed assistant motor vehicle inspector Dugni Venkateshwarlu while taking a bribe. This was followed by searches at his and relatives' residences. A case of possessing disproportionate assets was registered against him yesterday, an ACB release said. He allegedly possesses four houses, three cars, Rs 13 lakh in fixed deposits, Rs 74 lakh in bank, 2 kg of gold jewellery, silver articles worth about Rs 32 lakh. While as per the documents seized alongwith the assets they are worth Rs 3 crore, their market value could be upto Rs 6 crore, the ACB release said, adding that the officer was being questioned.
