Salman Khan named goodwill ambassador for India at Rio Olympics

Bollywood actor Salman Khan was on Saturday named goodwill ambassador of the Indian contingent for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The announcement was made in the presence of Olympic medalists and Rio star athletes such as boxer M C Mary Kom, hockey captain Sardar Singh, and shooter Apurvi Chandela, among others. Salman said Olympics do not get the viewership it deserves, and as a goodwill ambassador, he will try to popularise the games. Indian Olympic Association President N Ramachandran said, Salman's association will not only attract sports lovers but also help motivate the players to do well in the Olympics.
